Swimsuits can be skin-tight or loosely fitting and range from garments designed to preserve as much modesty as possible to garments designed to reveal as much of the body as possible without actual nudity. They are often lined with a fabric that prevents them from becoming transparent when wet. Some of the main trends include fun prints, 50s-inspired (including one-piece suits) and bright colors (Ashlee Simpson was recently spotted poolside wearing a bright yellow bikini). However, be careful because these trends may not work for your taste or body type, so feel free to try bathing suits that go beyond these trends. Swimsuits come in all shapes, sizes, colors and styles.

Half coverage to the fanny include the men’s and women’s Rio swimsuits. Three quarters coverage to the fanny include the men’s and women’s bikini bathing suits.

Swimsuits are designed to cover intimate bodily areas of men and women, subjects that have changed during different eras. Men’s swimsuit styles are swimming trunks such as board shorts, jammers, speedo style briefs, thongs, g-strings or bikini . Swimsuits are designed to be worn on the smaller sizes so you may want to order one size up for better coverage.

Women’s competitive swimsuits range from basic tank maillots to full-body suits. Many serious competitors use the full-body swimsuit style to take advantage of the specially designed texture of the fabric. Women’s and junior’s designer bathing suits have often been reduced to plain solids and unflattering fits in the mainstream industry.

Swimmers generally try to reduce frictional drag by shaving the hair off their body or by donning ultrasmooth suits. Because water is so dense, swimmers expend more than 90 percent of their energy just trying to overcome fluid resistance.

Swimming in the nude. That sure would solve my swimsuit problem and be more pleasurable. But, public pools go by our judeo-christian heritage of nudity being sinful/evil. Swimming is probably the sport that requires the least amount of equipment, and subsequently has seen the least amount of evolution in equipment.

Swim-sters swim diapers, trunks, and sets are specifically designed to take the place of traditional diapers during water activities. Swimming in a chlorinated swimming pool is effectively equivalent to soaking your swimsuit in bleach for a couple of hours. Needless to say, this is hardly a practice that encourages the durability and color-fastness of your swimsuit.

Swimsuit shopping can be stressful even if you have two healthy breasts. After mastectomy surgery, you may find it even more of a challenge.

Women with an inverted shape (their top is wider than their hips), should choose a two-piece with a skort or shorts. This will help balance their top and bottom, making them look more proportional. Women love to wear bikinis, men love to look at women in them.

Swimming is a wonderful exercise that keeps you healthy and fit throughout your pregnancy. Specially designed maternity swimwear is available in the market for you to enjoy swimming. Swimwear, cover ups, shorts, t shirts, and comfortable shoes in breathable fabrics are ideal for resort wear to take you through daytime activities aboard a cruise ship or at the beach. Casual resort wear styles should be comfortable and relaxed to wear. Swim laps in a chlorinated pool? No problem, try chlorine resistant and UV ray resistant suits.

Get 10% off the largest selection of kids surf & skate clothing

By: Sandy Klocinski

About the Author:

I am packing my bags for a trip to Costa Rica and realize that all of my bikinis… well, they just don’t look good on me. So I do what any thirty something would do, I go online to begin my search for the perfect bikini. There is no doubt that there are a lot of companies out there so I began plucking through the list. In my search I came across an interesting company that was founded by a Brazilian woman who was going to college in the States and was frustrated by the bikinis she was seeing. So she did what any frustrated woman would do- she started her own bikini company and is now in charge of one of the fastest growing micro and Brazilian bikini companies on the internet. I recently sat down with Ana, the founder of Look Swimwear, in a coffee shop in Miami Beach to find out more about her, Look Swimwear and the search for the perfect bikini…

Thank you Ana for agreeing to take some time out of your busy schedule- can I ask you to tell us more about why you started Look Swimwear in the first place?

Ana: “[laughs] Yeah, I was I guess not unlike most woman in that I was always frustrated when it came time to go on a trip or head to the beach- I would get into this “bikini panic” because it was impossible to find a bikini that not everyone had, was cute, sexy- really the perfect bikini. I was not used to this feeling at all, I grew up in Brazil and down there the beach and bikinis are really part of the culture. Brazilians love to show off and spend time with their friends and family on the beach. So long story short, I was always around the environment and definitely interested in swimwear fashion and bikinis so this frustration got the best of me- I started Look Swimwear.”

I have heard you often reference the “perfect bikini”- can you tell me more about what you mean by that?

Ana:” Well the perfect bikini is really one that has everything that all of us women look for. It has to be well made with high quality Lycras, fashionable, unique enough so that every lady on the beach is not wearing it and most importantly has to reflect who you are. Bikinis and fashion go hand in hand and are really an extension of our personalities so the perfect bikini pulls in all of these components into a small package… [laughter]“

Small for sure… For our readers who aren’t familiar with your bikini lines how do you describe them?

Ana:” I think the best way to describe them is that all of our bikinis are small, sexy, stylish and fun. We market ourselves as a purveyor of micro and Brazilian bikinis and that is in my mind exactly what we are. Anyone can sell bikinis but Look Swimwear is a purveyor because we take so much pride in our design, workmanship, materials we use and service- and we do not take this commitment lightly either. I am always talking to our customers to make sure that we are exceeding their expectations from beginning to end. I think that is one of the things that make us so successful. Consumers these days are very demanding and have high expectations. But, they also are loyal to the companies that they trust and serve them well so I guess our huge growth is a vote from our customer base really.”

Look Swimwear is now one of the fastest growing micro bikini companies, what plans do you have for the coming season?

Ana:” Lycras, prints and cuts are always changing is all I will say. I cannot tell you what we are going to do but I will say that you will love our new ideas and that we will not loose focus on who we are- a sexy bikini company. My direct staff and our employees are some of the most talented and creative people I have ever known- they are really the backbone to what Look is all about. So when you work with talented and creative people then only good things will come of it so that means more sexy bikinis for all of you ladies to wear and for the guys to enjoy.”

So how do men come into Look Swimwear equation?

Ana:” Well they are really the reason why we all want to wear sexy little bikinis and show off. There is nothing better for a woman’s confidence than her knowing that “she still has it”. Don’t get me wrong, a confident woman does not need someone else’s approval to have a strong sense of self but showing off , having fun and getting attention is such a rush and is good for all ages… [laughs]“

What would you say to some of the women out there who have never worn a micro or Brazilian bikini before?

Ana:” They should try it out for sure and get away from those boring suits that cover up everything. I go to beaches all over the world and am still amazed at how some people can say that what they are wearing is a bikini. I can tell you that wearing a smaller bikini is a lot of fun but definitely not made for the family reunion. We have so many women and couples buy from us when they head out for couples vacation or even for the boat, pool or where ever. It’s a huge confidence booster to catch the guys looking out the corner of their eyes and the bikinis are really comfortable too. Its funny, ten years ago thong underwear was just catching on with the masses and now look around, everyone is wearing them. I am not saying that micro and Brazilian bikinis are going to take over the traditional and conservative bikini but the market is growing like crazy and women all over the world are catching on. I guess it really comes down to if the woman has a little devilish side of her that likes to show off or break the rules. If she does then I would say go for it and try it out- we have not heard any complaints yet.”

Well thank you Ana for sitting down with me and telling us a little more about your company. So many of my friends have asked me to do a piece on your company and I am really happy that I could meet you.

Ana:” My pleasure Jessica I enjoyed it”.

Look Swimwear Ltd is a purveyor of high quality Micro and Brazilian bikinis. They have offices in Miami Beach, New York City and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. For more information on Look Swimwear you can call their Miami Beach offices at 1.305.735.3792 or request more information at info@lookswimwear.

Sand. Sun. Surf. Think beach, and those are the first descriptions that pop up. Images of azure waters gently rolling to pristine shores, coconut and palm fronds waving in the sea breeze, the soft tinkling of wood-and-string instruments accompanied by the staccato of percussions… all in keeping with the picture-perfect summer holiday. So the general, typical beach-going public would agree.

But take it to a different world: one of waves swelling to as high as thirty feet overhead, of deeply tanned pecs, abs, biceps and legs running, jumping and swimming in shape and of human figures skating the surface of these gigantic waves on colorful boards in a race against crashing foam and surf. It’s the world of surfing.

Surfing traces its historic roots in the early Polynesian people of Hawaii. Memoirs written by Capt. James Cook on his visits to the Pacific are the earliest records of surfing anywhere in the world. Traditionally, the people of Hawaii lay flat on their bellies on wooden boards to skim the waves. Surfing is deeply-rooted in Hawaiian and Polynesian culture, playing a role in the construction of legends and myths. The imminent danger faced while surfing, the thought of conquering the waves, the thrill of being atop them and the discipline it takes to reach all of the above: these elements are responsible for the excitement and popularity that surfing has become.

The last statement proves true in the fact that Hollywood has capitalized on the surfing industry, making movies out of it and of the lives of surfers. “Blue Crush” features Kate Bosworth as a female surfer struggling to make her mark in this male-dominated sport. Along with two other female friends and her younger sister, Anne Marie (Bosworth) is determined to prove her worth, eyeing the Pipe Masters competition as her triumph. Amidst the stunning visuals of the Hawaiian coast, Anne Marie drives herself into shape and hones her surfing skills for the event, while making a living teaching football players the game. Though she loses the Pipe Masters contest, Anne Marie does get to demonstrate that women can surf and surf well, too in a wonderfully executed exhibition at the “Pipe,” one of the most dangerous surfing challenges present.

“Point Break” is about surfing, yes, but with a rather peculiar twist. Keanu Reeves plays Johnny Utah, a rookie FBI agent on the tail of a gang of bank robbers called “The Ex-Presidents.” The gang robs banks using masks bearing the faces of previous American presidents, and Utah’s partner, agent Angelo Pappas (Gary Busey) has a theory that they may be surfers. Utah immerses himself in a surfing culture, learning the ropes of surfing through some newfound friends headed by a guy named Bodhi, played by Patrick Swayze. Bodhi turns out to be a one of the “Ex-Presidents” and he and Utah battle it out with the waves of the Los Angeles coast as their background. Utah goes from being an ex-football player who is clueless about the sea to a a competent surfer who has learned not just the art and beauty of surfing, but of good relationships as well.

A movie with a story different from what mainstream Hollywood has to offer. “Riding Giants” is just that. In documentary format and featuring real-life surfers, “Riding Giants” takes the viewer for a dive into the history of surfing, the culture that holds it alive today and the commercialized hype that has popularized it. It gives a detailed look inside the real world of surfing, where the dangers are always close by and how the fascination for those huge waves have lured and molded the icons and legends of surfing. It has been dubbed as the most informative surfing movie to date, complete with fantastic visuals.

There are more surfing movies, particularly from the sixties to the seventies. Those mentioned above have been produced in this recent century. Other popular surfing movies include “Endless Summer” and “Endless Summer 2,” “Big Wednesday,” “Billabong Odyssey,” “In God’s Hands” and the digitally animated film, “Surf’s Up” that has a penguin for its lead surfer.

To know more about surfing sites, visit www.Marconibeach.com

H2O Audio – Swim with your iPod Take the monotony out of swimming with H2O Audio.

By: Freya Papadakis

About the Author:

Girls, nobody’s body is perfect. Swimsuits can highlight what you believe are your imperfections or draw attention to your best assets. A flattering swimsuit makes the most of the proportions of a woman’s figure. It’s all about a careful mixing of color, print, and the right lines and silhouette. Ron-co.com offers an unrivaled selection of swimsuits, providing more than 1000 brand name products directly to consumers throughout the USA. If you’re looking for a designer perfect figure flattering suit that guarantees a perfect fit and at great prices, you’ve come to the right place.

Here are some tips on how to choose the right woman’s swimsuit for you.

Use the Power of Prints. Prints can also trick the eye and have an impact in how you look in a bathing suit. If you’re self conscious about being too thin, look for a figure flattering swimsuit with a bold, exciting print in bright colors. This applies to both one piece suits and bikinis. If you’re heavier and want to play down your size, you can still wear prints but choose a smaller one with a dark background and less contrast. This tends to have a slimming effect. You can use the color block concept here too. If you have a boyish upper body but carry a little too much around the hips, choose a swimsuit with a bold, graphic top and a simple, dark bottom. Prints have the power to subtly alter the way your body parts look in a swimsuit.

Choose one-pieces if you are overweight, especially in the stomach area. These swimsuits are designed to smooth out sagging skin as well.

A bikini is going to make you feel uncomfortable. Wear swimsuits that emphasize your best assets. If you are hourglass shaped, most bathing suits will likely flatter you. If you have large breasts, choose a suit with a supportive top that offers good cleavage without looking trashy. If you are proud of your butt, go for a skimpy bottom.

Put on a monokini if you are pear shaped, meaning that your thighs and behind are larger than your bust and waist. That is the one-piece that has parts cut out of it. It is designed to make your torso look longer and draw attention to your waist, rather than the bottom part of your body. Wear a triangle-shaped top if you have very small breasts. This can come in the form of a bikini top or or part of a one-piece. Most come with padding and can create the illusion of a larger chest. Wear a swimsuit that emphasizes both your chest and butt if you are apple-shaped, meaning that there is not a big difference in size between your chest, waist and bottom half of your body.

Try a Brazilian-cut bikinis bottom or a suit that’s padded or has a push-up bra. Summer adventures at the shore or aboard a cruise call for a fashionable swimsuit, one that’s good for sunning beachside and lounging poolside.

The styles and color combinations are extensive, so check out a few brands before you make your final selection. Choose a one-piece or a cropped top and trunks when your plans include a little swimming, body surfing or pool games. These styles offer the most flexibility for more active leisure activities. Think about a bandeau, tube top or strapless one-piece when shoulder tan lines are a concern. Many come with a detachable strap, a built-in bra or light padding in the cups.

H2O Audio – Swim with your iPod Train harder with H2O Audio

By: Roncoshop

About the Author:

Why is that? I know that all arobic exercises are good for your asthma but swimming seems to be the first things people tell you is good. So, why swimming as opposed to say, jogging or biking.

I’m just curious, considering starting a regular swimming workout. Thanks.

swimming
