When you are planning a special trip like a honeymoon or an anniversary trip there is little that can liken to the romance of a cruise.  Whether you like the night life, activities, chance to sit by the pool and relax, or the chance to explore several ports in a single trip a cruise can make a wonderful get-away.   The trick for most of us though is how do we find an inexpensive cruise that won't make our wallet wilt ?

First, as you research your cruise options, take special note of cruises that have bigger numbers of unsold cabins.  The closer you are to the date the ship is set to sail for that particular cruise, the greater the likelihood that the cruise line will start offering discounts.    Wait and take in the prices and the number of cabins sold on that cruise.  Search for alternate businesses marketing cabins for that cruise line.  The only question is whether or not your planning has the flexibility to wait until you can find the deal you want.

An option that does not necessarily require one to wait to book their trip in order to find an inexpensive cruise vacation is to think about taking advantage of a repositioning cruise.  These cruises go from one place to another as the demand for cruise ships wanes in one area and picks up in another.  The most common accounting for these moves are the weather, but other factors can come into play as well.  In any case, this can mean quite an exotic trip for less money than you would expect since many people don't even know this opportunity exists.

Finally, don't overlook the use of a travel agent that specializes in cruises in the area you want to cruise.   They make their living knowing the industry.  They know the signs of what is likely to drop prices and they know where to look for the best deals.  For the greatest benefit, be ready to book but don't expect to book your trip when you walk into the travel agent's office.  Instead you are likely to have better luck in your quest to find an inexpensive cruise if you let the agent know what you are looking for and then let them watch the market for you.

As you can see, saving money on cruises is possible. Talk to a travel agent, wait for the cabin sales, look into the posibility of taking avantage of a repositioning cruise, or do all three at the same time.  Whatever you do, if you have a little time to spend in research and do a little bit of legwork you can find an inexpensive cruise for that romantic getaway.
