3 Essentials For A Luxury Cruise

May 13th, 2012 No Comments   Posted in Travel

Luxury cruises are rarely the same as cruises that most people have been on. Fun can still be had by everyone but their is a more formal tone behind it all. There is plenty going on all the time, but it just tends to be of a higher quality and caters for arguably more refined tastes. If you have never been on a luxury cruise however, you may not know what are the important things to take. These are three top recommendations.

Smart dress/suit.  Apart from your other smart-casual wear which you will need when walking about the boat, it is advisable to take at least one smart suit /dress. This will be needed for shows and dances that you could be attending, but you will need it also for the more formal meals where you could be eating with the captain if you are lucky.

Camera. The thing most luxury cruises do have in common with the vast amount of other cruises is that there will be a huge amount of new things to see and experience.  Whether you are doing oceania cruises or river cruises, a camera will help you keep a record of all the lovely sun-sets, the incredible wildlife and the great entertainment that you will get on board. Also, how will you show off to your friends and family if you don't have hard evidence of your travels

Good book. Although there is so much going on that you will be rushed off your feet, you will really appreciate taking a book. You will have to have some down-time at some point as no one can keep moving indefinitely. If you can find a nice quiet part of the boat, there is no better way to do this than with your nose in a good book and the world slowly drifting by.

Sure, you’re trying to relax but most vacations are comprised of self drive in unknown places, having to put up with traffic and lines, not knowing where to eat, having to worry about money, and other things that can quickly ruin a vacation. Instead of a relaxing time, you end up becoming a bundle of nerves. Who wants that? With a Bahamas cruise, you get to finally relax the way a vacation was intended to be spent. You don’t have to worry about food, money, travel, entertainment and you certainly don’t have to worry about entertaining the kids or preventing them from becoming bored so they ruin your vacation. With a Bahamas cruise, you get to finally take the long vacation the doctor’s been ordering for a long time.

Finding A Cruise

First, you need to find a good Bahamas cruise deal. The good news is that you won’t have to look far. It’s a myth that cruises are ungodly expensive. That’s just not true. You can oftentimes find auckland harbour cruise deals that involve the entire family for a very affordable rate. Travel

When you find a Bahamas cruise deal, or a Hawaii cruise deal, or any other type of cruise deal, you must consider that travel is already being provided. You don’t have to drive anywhere. You just lay back and sit in the sun, you get waited on hand and foot and the cruise ship takes you to your destination. You don’t worry about a thing.

Great Deals

It’s recommended that you begin shopping for your Bahamas cruise deals as early as possible. The prices always drop around the first of January for cruises to be taken in the Spring time. However, if you’ve waited too long to book your Bahamas cruise deal, don’t fret. You can sometimes find last minute cruise specials as the time for the cruise approaches as they attempt to fill up the ship before it leaves. You’ll be glad you booked a Bahamas cruise deal, whether it’s just for you, for you and your sweetheart or it’s for the entire family. There’s something for everyone and it’s the most relaxing vacation you’ll ever take.

These Are The Things You Will Need On Your Alaska Cruise

May 11th, 2012 No Comments   Posted in Travel

An Alaskan cruise is definitely one of those one in a lifetime experiences. You will witness scenery and animals that very few people have had the pleasure of seeing and indeed cannot be seen by any other method. You cannot even see them during Canada Holidays cruises. Its a pretty unique environment however and your normal cruise packing list does not apply. So what do you really need to take with you when you go?

Warm clothes. It might sound like a silly thing to need to remind people but a lot of tourists associate cruises with sun and heat. The temperature in Alaska can drop quite low, sometimes hitting the minus 30°C in middle winter. If you take your cruise in the summer time then you're likely to get some milder weather but warm clothes are still a must.

Binoculars. forgetting to take a pair of there could be your biggest regret. When all around you are pointing at things and smiling with joy, you will be struggling to make out a very small dot that could be a penguin. A lot of the action on an Alaskan cruise will take place a fair distance away from you. You won't strain your eyes and you'll have a greater experience of the sights if you take some binoculars with you.

Camera. If you have camera with a big enough lens then you might not need to take bincoculars. But for most of us we will probably need both. A camera is not only useful for studying the pictures after you have taken them but also to share the experience of your great Alaska cruise with friends and family when you return.

Wildlife book. There is nothing more frustrating that seeing an interesting animal and not having a book to look it up in. Additionally it helps you understand the habits of the creatures you find and its fun learning the ins and out of their everyday lives.

Thermos. When a lot of your time is spent above board, a thermos is God send. This is all that really needs saying about a thermos flask.

Stop Your Motion Sickness On Cruises

May 10th, 2012 No Comments   Posted in Travel

There is nothing worse that feeling travel sick when you're stuck on a cruise, in fact its something that puts many people off booking one. People can suffer from travel sickness with varying degrees of severity, but it is certainly never an enjoyable experience. It really can ruin holidays and make you long to go home. So what are the best ways to stop your luxury cruise being ruined?

1.) Position of your cabin. If you mention that you are a sufferer of travel sickness, the cruise agents should be able to sort you out a cabin close to the middle of the boat. This will minimise the amount of movement that your cabin experiences, even on gentle river cruises and will dramatically reduce the chances of feeling ill.

2.) Eating ginger. Ginger has been a motion sickness preventive for many many years. Its natural ingredients minimize the gag-reflex response signals that are sent to the stomach from the brain and will help to stop you being sick. You may however still feel a little nauseous as ginger doesn't prevent this.

3.) Walking about. You might not think its works but you'd be surprised. The movement that we experience on boat is completely new to most people's brains and this is why we suffer. If you stay on your feet have a good walk around on the deck, you'll begin to find you 'sea legs' and your sensory system will start to learn the strange movement

4.) Motion sickness tablets. This is without out doubt the most effective option for most people and is the most widely used technique. These tablets work to reduce the sensitivity of the brain to movement receptors around the body, therefore decreasing the disorientation and dizziness it feels. This is also why they can make you feel drowsy, so be careful taking them before swimming. You should take motion sickness tablets ideally a couple of hours before you start the cruise to allow the ingredients to get into the blood stream. This will mean that you’ll be protected against sickness from the minute you step on the boat.

Large motion-stabilizing devices are now sometimes found on the more advanced boats, if this is something you're interested in please check out Oceania Cruise

Travel sickness is one of those things that deters thousands of people from going on a cruise. People can suffer from travel sickness with varying degrees of severity, but it is certainly never an enjoyable experience. It often makes you feel terrible for a long time and unable to enjoy yourself. So what are the best ways to stop your luxury cruises being ruined?

1.) Position of your cabin. If you mention that you are a sufferer of travel sickness, the cruise agents should be able to sort you out a cabin close to the middle of the boat. This will minimise the amount of movement that your cabin experiences, even on steady river cruises and will dramatically reduce the chances of feeling ill.

2.) Eating ginger. Ginger has been a motion sickness preventive for many many years. Its natural ingredients minimize the gag-reflex response signals that are sent to the stomach from the brain and will help to stop you being sick. It will not get rid of your nausea feelings how, so you might need something else to combat this.

3.) Walking about. You might not think its works but you'd be surprised. One contributing factor to sea sickness is the fact that the boats movement is alien to our brains. If you're up and about and able to walk around the whole boat for a little while you movement sensory organs will begin to be more comfortable with the sensations and you feel much better

4.) Motion sickness tablets. This is generally considered the most power form of travel sickness reduction and for this reason it is the most popular. These tablets work to reduce the sensitivity of the brain to movement receptors around the body, therefore decreasing the disorientation and dizziness it feels. They can however also give you a drowsy feeling so you might not be able to take part in any strenuous activity...shame. You should take motion sickness tablets ideally a couple of hours before you start the cruise to allow the ingredients to get into the blood stream. This ensures that there is no window of time for your body to start reacting badly to the boats movement.
